We now have an exciting opportunity to join us as an Assistive Technology Assistant on a permanent, full time (37 hours per week), term time only basis.
The college aims to provide quality innovative, holistic support for learners with a Special Educational Need or Disability (SEND) which promotes independence, achievement and progression.
As directed by the ALS Manager you will provide orientation, training and support on Assistive Technology to meet the support needs of individual learners, ensuring that they receive high quality person centred support to build independence. You will support Colleagues in determining the Assistive Technology needs of a learner and feed into processes such as Support Interviews, Personal Learning Plans, Personal Care Plans and aspirational support targets, carrying out reviews on the effectiveness and impact of Assistive Technology. Support can be provided for all of the college’s divisions including 16-19, Adults, Apprenticeships and H.E.
In order to do this, you will need:
Level 2 qualification in Assistive Technology or equivalent experience and willingness to obtain a Level 2 Assistive Technology qualification.
Level 2 qualification in English and Maths
Experience of working with young people and adults with a SEND in an education environment using Assistive Technology.
Experience and knowledge, empathy and understanding of the specific issues relating to the education of young people and adults with a SEND.
Experience in supporting learners with Dyslexia/SpLD is desirable.
Candidates who can apply assistive technologies to support students with SEND needs such as Dyslexia/SpLD would be at an advantage.
