We have an exciting opportunity to join us as a Student Mentor on a fixed term (1 year), full time (37 hours per week) basis.
The purpose of this role is to support and develop the personal, social and health education of learners within a specific business unit, for all age groups. This includes using action plans and target setting, alongside utilising internal and external support agencies.
To support the achievement of the programme of study, and encourage progression routes into a desired employment sector.
To prepare learners for employment and active citizenship within society beyond their time at The Manchester College.
To do this successfully you’ll need:
Level 2 qualifications in English and Mathematics or equivalent.
Qualified to at least level 4 in Mentoring, Youth Work, Counselling or Advice & Guidance.
Have experience of supporting learners in an educational setting, preferably Further Education and Higher Education.
Have experience working with 16+ students, including adults
Have experience in providing support for academic and personal, social and health development
The Manchester College provides education for a large number of Looked After Young People and Care Leavers.
The successful candidate will be working closely with care experienced young people in order to remove barriers to learning and facilitate social/personal development.
This role is based across multiple campuses and will involve liaising with social workers, key workers, virtual schools and internal support teams.
